Tutorial #1
how to use textures
Step One:
you need a picture, any will do i chose
this one.
open up photoshop and paste the picture in there (you should have a background, and layer one should be the picture).
example
after this, i felt it was too light so i pasted it again and set the top layer (2) to screen
example
.
Step Two:
get a texture you like, i choose
this one
paste it into the picture
example
Then I changed the layer/blending mode to saturation.
example
I pasted it again and set it to screen and put a gaussian blur to it (on top, filter>blur>gaussian blur).
example
Step Three:
i used another texture
here
pasted it on top and set it to overlay.
example
Step Four:
I am just about done, so i went to flatten the image (on top layer>flatten image).
example
I wanted to adjust the colors so used color balance (image>adjust>color balance or simply CTRL+B).
example
Step Five:
i decided to use another texture.
click
i pasted it, rotated it (edit > transform > rotate 180) and set it to multiply.
example
next i right clicked the bottom background layer and chose duplicate, i then dragged the layer on top of the layer one and set it to softlight.
example
im pretty satisfied with how it looks so ill just stop and flatten. do not just follow these steps because that's how i did it, it's just an example.
there is no "right" way to use textures. you can pick different blending/layer modes. you can change the opacity, erase parts of it,
move them around and much more.
